GET READY KIDS....

Christmas, Christmas is nearly here,

All the kids get in gear.

Santa Claus is getting set,

To send his presents, so don’t you threat.

As long as you have all been good,

You’ll get your gifts, as you should.

And if you have been very bad,

Then on Christmas day you’ll be feeling sad.

So decorate the Christmas tree,

And make sure you’re as polite as can be.

As Santa’s little helpers will tell,

If you being or swearing or starting to yell.

So be nice to mum and be nice to dad.

And whatever you do don’t get them mad.

Christmas isn't that far away,

So be nice and it will pay.

NASA Chief Under Fire For Personal Shuttle Use October 26, 2005  Issue 41.43

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL—NASA Administrator Michael Griffin has yet to respond to recent allegations that he used NASA space shuttles on as many as one dozen unauthorized outings to such as
New York City, the French Riviera, and his vacation
home near Ketchum, ID.

A report Issued Monday by NASA’s Oversight
Commission Indicates a cumulative t8 million
miles unaccounted for on the Atlantic, Discovery,
and Endeavor shuttles. In addition, shuttle pilot
Jams Kelly reported numerous occasions on which
he found the pilot set adjusted for someone else7

The report also revealed that radio presets on the
shuttles had been changed to receive various
talk-radio stations from across the country, and
that the cargo bays contained foreign items such
as an old pair of sneakers, aviator-style
sunshades, two empty Big Gulp Los Angeles
Dodgers collector cups, and CDs that shuttle
astronauts say are not theirs.

Griffin’s apparent joyrides came to light last week,
when sharp-eyed patrons at Georgia’s Augusta
National Golf Club spotted Discovery In the club’s
parking lot. Within hours, NASA employees began
coming forward with their own observations.

Trails End Minutes by Stan Viets

November 2005

Members attending the November meeting, Eldon Reeves, Floyd Nunnelee, Russell Higgins, Larry Cole, Margaret Rogers, Hubert Gross, Dan Randall, Terry and MC Scott, Charlie and Darnell Gibson, John Williams, Mike and Brenda Hopper, Rick Totty, Doug Pauley and yours truly. We welcomed John Williams to his first meeting since joining MTR. We are also looking forward to meeting our newest member Marti Sotak; she rides a Honda VTX 1300.
Hlldia reports we have a bank balance of $592.82
We only had 3 Birthdays in November, Eddie Garner on the 5th, Linda Randall on the 9th and Floyd Nunnelee on the 16th. There was 1 anniversary this month, Myron and Beverly Coney on the 20th. Congratulations and best wishes to all.
In remembrance of Jean, I would like to offer the following tribute, a short story of our motorcycling years. I made an attempt to read the following, but couldn’t, my thanks to Rick Totty for his help. I first met Jean 42 years ago at Industrial Blowpipe Co. (Steelcraft) where we both worked. We have been riding 2-up for the more than the 23 years we have been married. Jean loved her many friends. We have owned 5 Gold Wings and ridden 186,343 miles. Jean was on the back seat of our Gold Wing most of the time. We are fortunate in being able to ride and visit a lot of places in the USA, from the Florida Keys to Salt Lake City; we have been to Canada twice. We met many new and old friends along the way. We were always together and are remembered as the couple that wore a lot of matching outfits. As many of you know Jean has been unable to ride on the MC for the last 6 years or more and up to about a year ago we were able to four wheel to some of our MTR events, however this year she was too sick to go anywhere, even in the car. She told me on several occasions to go on and go that she would be okay. She wanted me to be able to ride and not worry about her however I didn’t feel comfortable leaving her. Looking back I am glad I was able to spend this time together. Jean has been in constant pain for over a year and finally all her health problems were more than she could handle, she fought to the very end. I love Jean and will miss her butt recognize she is now free of pain, suffering and in Heaven, a much better place. I am grateful and Blessed to have had Jean In my life over these past years and hopefully y’all have fond memories of her too.
Please remember Barry Englander in your thoughts and prayers. I do appreciate Barry and Sharon coming to Jeans service, I know what an effort it was.
The Veteran’s Thunder 2005 ride on November 5th had a large turnout of bikes and well attended, several MTR members were there.
I passed out a revised list reflecting the current MTR membership. Please review you’re listing for errors, Margaret reported her email address was not correct, it should be margareterogers@bellsouth.net. Also please note Tim Hendrickson has changed his email address to k177tjh@bellsouth.net.
We have two Sponsors due for renewal. I will follow as necessary. I have one additional prospect for a new sponsor, will follow on that too. As always please check with our advertisers/sponsors when you have need for their services. I can recommend Los Pilares Mexican restaurant, I have eaten at two of their three restaurants so far, all very good.
At the October meeting MTR reelected the current staff of 2005 officers with a show of hands to serve another term. Thanks to all for their confidence in putting up with us for another year. As mentioned in the November newsletter, in lieu of the December meeting we will have our annual Christmas party December 10,2005, setup at 10:30 to 11:00 AM and eat at noon, again at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Double B Ranch north of Millington. Dan reviewed the wanted list requesting volley balls, basketballs, tennis rackets and inline skates to be used in the new pavilion. It was decided we would spend $300.00 for these items for the boys. Dan has made arrangements for a (US Foods) donation of the ham butts, beaus and buns. Tim Hendrickson has again graciously volunteered to smoke and barbecue the ham butts as well
as prepare the beans. MTR membership will need to provide drinks, side dishes and deserts for approx 30 to 40 people and if possible, some door prizes for the boys. Please, if you will be attending and haven’t already done so, email Dan drandall@midsouth.rr.com and let him know what you will be bringing to the Christmas party. Email with details, directions, etc will follow.
December 14th Santa will arrive at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s home on his motorcycle at 4:00PM to distribute gifts. Santa is in need of a lot of helpers (Elves) on motorcycles to assist him, again let Santa, AKA Dan know if you can help.
We also decided to again put together a gift of goodies for Eddie and Bonnie Garner, our fantastic MTR Webmaster, In appreciation of all his efforts in continual making our web page the best. I will get the things together and deliver them, if anyone wants to go with me, just let me know. Thanks to all that brought door prizes, you win one, you bring one, we appreciate your donation.
See y’all at our Christmas Party, December 10 at the TBCII Double B ranch north of Millington.
Thanks to all the MTR officers and members for their enthusiasm, dedication and attendance in helping to make 2005 one more successful year for the Memphis Tour Riders.
This will be your last Happy Trails for 2005; please note our next regular meeting will be January 12, 2006, at Fox Ridge Pizza. Let’s start the New Year off right, be there.
Ride Safe and arrive alive in the balance of 2005. Adjourned at 7:40 PM. Stan

“The shuttle costs an estimated $2 billion per
launch, not counting delays and repairs, and for Mr.
Griffin to use it to take his wife on luxury shopping
trips to Europe Is not appropriate” Congrove said.
“We apologize to affected personnel at NASA, and to
the good people of New York City whose homes
were vaporized by Mr. Griffin’s several unauthorized
launches near LaGuardia Airport.”

Griffin may face penalties ranging from dismissal to
having his salary garnished for the next 376 years in
order to pay for fuel.
