Technology our friend and our enemy

I have been trying to produce the monthly newsletter for three days now. I am using my new Dell PC. A truly wonderful
machine. I have spent over 14 hours on the phone with various Dell customer service representatives over the last week
and taken my PC to two different shops to have the experts look at it to tell me why I could not produce one simple four
page newsletter for a bunch of motorcyclist. I finally solved all of my PC problems and then my printer died. So I
dutifully went off to Costco to locate and purchase a new all in one HP printer. It has taken another two days and more
countless hours on the phone but it is now working and printing. The newsletter will go out all be it a little later than
usual but I know have a fully functional PC system and am happy with technology again

We had no guests at the meeting. Billy Max is getting close to finalizing the 2007 riding schedule. Hopefully it will be finished by the March meeting. I am sure we will have another great year of riding and fellowship.
We will have 3 Birthdays in March, Eldon Reeves on the 8th, Jake Atkins on the 12th and David Elston on the 13th. We have only one anniversary, Terry and Mary Carole Scott on the 23rd. Congratulations and best wishes to all.
Dan’s new newsletter format looks good. He is now using refilled ink cartridges for the newsletter to reduce printing cost. If you prefer to read Happy Trails on our web site and not get the hard copy, please let Dan know.
Jim Ashe update. He is doing fairly well and just recently moved to a new care facility, the Kennington Point. His address is 6301 Village Grove Dr., Room 148, Memphis, TN 38115. Tim Alien Wants Motorcycle Crash Lessons

Funnyman Tim Allen is begging the motorcycle experts who trained him to ride a Harley Davidson for new film Wild Hogs to teach him how to crash - because he doesn’t want to risk injury now he’s hooked on motorcycle. The Santa Clause star’s brother lost his leg when he was 16 and Allen was forbidden from getting close to a bike. When he got the chance to learn all about Harleys for “Wild Hogs,” the star became hooked and he now wants to become the best biker - on and off the motorcycle. Allen says, “I worry about getting into trouble. I kind of want to know how to lay a bike down at high speed. I keep asking the guys to train me. I’d say, ‘Is there any way I can try that out because I’ll inevitably go in the other direction, flip over the handle bars. But I don’t want to end up like that.”’ Allen admits his brother’s accident often makes him think twice about getting on a motorbike: “I love riding the bikes. It’s a constant conflict with me; ‘Is it worth the risk?”’

A BIKER who was accused of riding his Yamaha R1 through a built-up area at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, filming the ride and then posting the footage on the YouTube, has spoken out for the first time. Jeremy Parrott, 37, was questioned by police officers after they saw the video. It shows his Yamaha RI squeezing through traffic driving in opposite directions, while the video starts and ends at Parrott’s home address. The film does not show the driver, and Parrott has not admitted being the driver. The camera was mounted so that it recorded the riders-eye view of the road as well as the speedo. Not only did the motorcycle begin and end its journey at Parrott’s home address, it shows a vehicle number plate in the drive way, which may have helped police trace him. ”They came and knocked on my door and said I’ve come to talk to you about the words YouTube and R1,” Parrott said in an interview with Motorcycle News published this week. In the magazine interview, he neither categorically denies nor admits being the rider of the bike. ”I wasn’t the rider of the bike necessarily,” he said. “I’m not saying it’s me. ”When asked could he explain why the motorcycle began from and returned to his house he simply said “no”.

Police spokesman, Dan Mountain said: “A 37-year-old from Bathurst Close attended Burnham-On-Sea police station and has been summonsed for dangerous driving. We hope that this Cool Ride will act as a deterrent.”
