Newsletter Content... each month I look for new and interesting items to put in our newsletter. Sometimes I am more successful than others. This month I found a new website that I have not been on www.motorcvcle-usa.com They cover a lot of different marquis and areas of our pastime, on road, off road, GP racing, Dirt tracks etc. If you get a chance check them  out. The partial article on page 3 of this edition came from their website. If any of you reading this have anything to add or want published please let me know. I am always open for articles or news to publish.
The MTR club has a big ride planed for August, for those of you going on it ride carefully and enjoy the journey we look forward to seeing you all on your safe return.
Memphis has a great tradition of Wednesday night Bike Night The crowds recently have been pretty big at the three venues I frequent, Beale Street, The Side Car Café and Joe’s Crab Shack on Germantown Road. If you haven’t been in a while or have never been take some time on a nice Wednesday night and go out for a ride. There are all types, makes models of bikes and humans out and about. You do need to remember your personal safety on the streets and in some of the parking lots etc as there are plenty of young and old sport bikers out there doing wheelies and burnouts, of course we all know youth is wasted on the young, but overall find it to be a very friendly crowd and plenty of different machines to look at and ogle over.

June 30th—--MTR Honeysuckle Moon Dinner Ride—Reelfoot Lake, TN. was cancelled do to inclement weather, although we did have 5 members plus BJ’s Brother and wife go anyway. Billy plans to reschedule ride later, if possible.

This Saturday July 14th---MTR Dinner Ride—Old Timers Restaurant—Millington, TN. We had a great turn out for our scenic dinner ride to The Old Timers Restaurant in Millington, TN. In all we bad 21 members and 2 guests, 14 bikes and I Mustang convertible with the top down. The food and service was very good and the coconut pie was excellent. Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship. Several suggested we do it again sometime. This time the weather cooperated, no rain and nice.

Wednesday, July 18th. Was Motorcycle and scooter riders’ 16th annual commuting Ride to Work Day, I saw a total of 27 bikes going to work and on the way home. I did a little calculating and based on my 38 mile round trip and $3.00/gal gas, I would save $2.00 per day by riding my bike. Just think how much fuel could be saved by riding bikes to work.

July 21st —-MTR Dinner Ride-—Crossroads Café—-Red Banks, MS Another beautiful day for our MTR ride, in all we had 23 members making the Dinner Ride on 15 bikes. Good food, fellowship and the scenic ride was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all for your help in making this ride another great event.

August 3rd ---MTR the Big One—Pikes Peak or Bust Ride—10 days and nights. Four of us will leave the group in Colorado Springs for additional touring, west and north.

August 25th ---MTR Martha’s Menu--Dinner Ride--Corinth, MS

September 8th ---MTR BB VI Cookout, Arkabutla, MS Invite your friends for good food and camaraderie.

New product Ad in the August American Motorcyclists Magazine. Bugz/off film, 4 sheets/$l4 plus $7 shipping sold only on E Bay, NASCAR like tear-away? This is a good idea but may be too expensive to use?

Terry Scott discussed the Wednesday Bike Night on Beale S and was impressed with the abundance of beautiful custom and street bikes. Rick Totty discussed the restored P-38, Glacier Girl leaving the day before we got there to resume its original 1942 maiden flight to England., so we missed seeing her. http://www.thelostsquadron.com Rick suggested the need to make plans now to attend the Honda Hoot next year.

Noise restrictions for motorcycle exhausts is one of the hot-button topics in the industry, but with recent changes to EPA emissions regulations for on-highway motorcycles - the first in 25 years - the level of pollutants coming out of the tailpipe is having a big impact as well.
Motorcycle Emissions Regs Examined_2/15/2007 By Ban Mac/son

Whenever the word restriction comes out in the context of motorcycles, ears prick up and the opinion factor runs high. Motorcycle exhaust systems are the focal point of restrictions in two controversial areas: sound and emissions. While the issues are related - with loud exhausts a subject worthy of an article all its own - in this story we will examine the quieter issue of pollution emissions regulations and the way it is changing the motorcycle industry.

Restrictions to exhaust emissions were brought to the forefront last year due to confusion regarding new EPA regulations, which went into effect for the 2006 model year - the first revision to nation-wide motorcycle emissions requirements in more than 25 years.

Rumors have run rampant about what riders and builders can and can’t do to their own motorcycles in this era of new regulation. In recent months we have even seen the long arm of the law bring down the enforcement hammer on celebrity bike builder Jesse James, who violated the stringent emissions requirements of California. Since it is a topic with industry-wide implications, it is our intent is to examine the issue and help sort out rumor from fact.

2008 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide shows off its classic styling in
front of Wisconsin’s Last Covered Bridge.

The last time I saw this bike it was being stored in a warehouse in Westmont, IL. About 3 miles from my house there. It was actually being trailered to go to a show.

The taxpayers are sending congressmen on expensive trips abroad. It might be worth it except they keep coming back!
