This year's cookout was once again, a resounding success. We had thirty three attendees if you count Jack the Pug. The cookout was a success but, the motorcycle ride part of it, due probably to the threat of rain that never materialized, was a bust. Only four motorcycles made the trek down to Arkabutla Lake with Dan Randall leading. Thanks Dan.
At first it looked as though the cookout itself was gonna' be a bust but folks just kept drifting in and by the time we lined up for the grub, we had a crowd. Kudos' go out to David Elston who did the grunt work by cooking almost fifty pounds of meat and every ounce of it was delicious. Good Job David. If you had told me you bought that meat at Corky's I would have believed it. It was that good. Some of you may remember that the MTR cookout was David's idea in the first place. He started it all back in 2001. We called it the Burnt Burger 200 back then because there was a 200 mile motorcycle ride just to get there and back and from that very first one, held at Chickasaw State Park, the MTR cookout has always been a big hit.
This year's cookout cost the club roughly one hundred and fifty dollars after we raised seventy five dollars with a fifty-fifty drawing. Not bad. Hildia Max and Dan Randall were the fifty/fifty winners. Thanks to all who came and help make it a success...We'll do it again next year for sure. Everybody seems to really like the Arkabutla site and we see no reason to have our 2010 version anywhere else.
