Cruisers De-Brief - by: B.J. Max

The crew gathered at the Iron Skillet in West Memphis for this short tour through the Arkansas Delta. Along the way, Buck who was raised in the area gave us a running commentary of the rich history along our route, the most interesting of which was the community of Wilson. Our route took us by the house where Buck was raised and later, in Holland, MO, we cruised through the itty bitty hamlet of Holland, MO and the school where Donna learned how to spell cat and just how silly boys can be.

We took a hydration break and leg stretch in Blytheville then rode the last leg up 61, picked up a connector to I-55 and zipped across the Mississippi River Bridge to Dyersburg and Cruisers Restaurant arriving on off schedule by a cupla' minutes.

We read a couple of nasty reviews on the Internet about Cruisers but they turned out to be false. Everybody I talked to loved it. The food was decent, the waitresses were friendly and cute and considering the size of our group, we got our food in good time.

If we had an award for the rider that traveled the farthest, my nephew, Chris Max, would have won hands down. Chris blew in from Sherman, Texas just to make this trip. Sherman lies roughly forty miles north of Dallas near the Oklahoma line. Chris had a good time and despite his long ride he seemed fresh and raring to go. He spent the night with Hildia and I and returned home Sunday morning. He arrived safely back in Sherman around four PM after logging over 1100 miles. Thanks for coming Chris. It was a nice visit.

We left Cruisers at stopped immediately at the Sonic drive in where we tanked up on ice cream. From there we were off and other than a quick re-fuel in Ripley, we finished the ride non-stop. The weather, although predicted to be hot as Hades with high humidity, was actually nice with overcast skies and a few sprinkles now and then. It was almost a perfect day for riding...And again, the turnout was fantastic with sixteen motorcycles, a Dodge pickup and twenty six souls. And so MTR puts another good ride in the books...

Roll Call: Tod and Cindy Beers, Stan and Nina Viets, Dan Randall, brand new member and old friend of MTR, Mark Hansen, Rick Totty, Jake Abraham, David Elston, Big Bird, Buck & Donna Perminter, Charlie & Darnel Gibson, Paul & Diann Talkington, Terry & MC Scott, Danny & Lori Parker, Paul Romesburg, Your Truly and Hildia plus guest riders Richard & Donna Hightower and Chris Max.

A few meaningless Stats: We rode a grand total of 229 miles, our driving time was four hours and fifty three minutes, our average speed was 46.8 MPH and the maximum velocity attained was 75.7 MPH
