Monk House Road Make-Up Ride

As most of you know, last week's ride to Brad's Bar-B-Q from the Mid-South Cycle Show was cancelled due the passing of our Vice-President, Floyd Nunnelee. After the funeral on Tuesday I noticed that the upcoming weekend was looking like a good one weather wise and knowing that 'ol Floyd would certainly have approved, I threw together a last minute plan for a run up to the Catfish Hotel near Shiloh.

I didn't expect much of a showing seeing as how nobody knew about the ride, including me, until Thursday night but I was pleasantly surprised when, despite the brisk and windy weather, we arrived at the designated jumpin' off spot and found ten bikes on hand and that figure would eventually swell to fourteen before the day was over. A great turnout on such short notice.

The night before, as I sat at the computer and mapped out the ride, I came across Monk House Road in Fayette County. No kiddin'. Monk House Road. I couldn't resist and plotted the length of it along with a buncha' other barley paved roads and linked together they made for some excellent riding. And, it kept us off the four lane from Cordova all the way to Middleton, Tennessee, a full 67 miles of twisting, coiling and slithering blacktop, the very soul of the motorcycling experience.

Mark Hansen and Michelle along with their friends, Dane & Kathy Clark met us at the Restaurant giving us a total of fourteen bikes, a pickup truck and twenty two souls that included five guests. Good times, good food and good conversation.

Roll Call: Buck & Donna Perminter, Rick & Donna Hightower, Todd Simpson, John & Mary Ann Dewey, Dan Randall, Terry Scott, Paul Romesburg,, Chat Lofton, Jake Abraham, Rick Totty, Mark Hansen & Michelle, Yours Truly and Hildia Max and last but not least, guest riders Dane & Kathy Clark, Tim & Linda Duncan & Joe Schumacher

If you made it, thanks for coming. If you didn't, we missed you....... I wonder who Monk was.
