CRAVIN CATFISH RIDE

De-Brief - by: Danny Parker

August 27, 2011

You just couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to ride. Even though the temperature hovered around 90 degrees, the humidity was a nice and low 40 percent. It felt great!

We all met up at the Flying J in Olive Branch, MS about 3:00pm and departed at 3:30pm sharp. Our route took us over on Highway 178E to Sherman, MS, where we dined on some of the best fish, chicken and fixins I’ve had. That fabulous dessert bar deserves an honorable mention too. YUMM-O! David Elston commented to me that he was hoping Charlie Gibson would be there to enjoy that immense gravel parking lot. It did demand a healthy dose of attention with an absence of front brake! Everyone carefully negotiated the lot like pros, thankfully. After our amazing meal we headed home on Highway 78. I walked in the door at the old Hacienda a little past 8pm.

While we did enjoy ourselves, we sure missed our beloved Trail Boss, Billy Max. It also took some effort for us all to remember when to leave. We all just always keep an eye on Hildia. When she puts on her yellow helmet we know it’s time to mount up and go. Looked a little like Keystone Cops for a minute out there. Billy, it wasn’t the same without you and Hildia for sure. Get well old friend, our prayers and thoughts are with you for a super fast recovery.

ROLL CALL: David Elston, Buck Permenter, Rick and Donna Hightower, Lou and Carla Nathan, Tim and Linda Duncan, Richard and Susie Starnes and Danny P.

7 bikes participated in this parade.
