Honeysuckle Moon '09 De-Brief
June 6, 2009
Our Honeysuckle Moon Ride to Reelfoot once again proved to be one of our most popular rides. We had nineteen motorcycles, two cars and Thirty-five members and guests turn out for our 7th annual rendition of this popular run. And Mother Nature, in an attempt to make up for the 2007 toad strangler that prevented the ride from progressing further than Millington, made up for that awful day in spades. The weather was perfect. And the full moon, unlike past Moon rides, popped up right on time as we pulled out of the Lake View lot and headed for the barn. And, sitting just off our port side, it paced us all the way home making for an unforgettable evening.
The only hitch on this ride was a missed turned by yours truly that led the bulk of the crew down some very spooky back roads. But that too contributed to the overall enjoyment of the trip and no one complained. The group followed me like I had good sense and I can't help but compare our rides to the blind leading the blind. But our main objective, to have fun, was accomplished. And this turned out to be another fun ride thanks to the great camaraderie and the exceptional support I receive as your Ride Coordinator. You just can't imagine how much I appreciate it. No matter how many times I miss a turn or foul up the schedule you continue to follow me and I am humbled. Thank you all so very much.
Roll Call: Stan and Nina Viets, Charlie and Darnel Gibson, Buck and Donna Perminter with the best next door neighbor in the world as their guest, Sammy Farley and Rick and Donna Hightower. Ricky Ticky Totty and Dana with their guests Gary and Teddy Hammer were there as was Danny (jet lag) Parker and Lori. Jake Abraham parked his Kroger truck to join us and Lou and Carla Nathan rode along as well. Floyd Nunnelee and Sue were
along as was Dan Randall with guest Mark Hanson, guest rider George Viar, Paul Romesburg, Paul and Dianne Talkington, Terry Taylor and Gwen, Don and Teresa Hester, Tod Beers, Hildia Max and yours truly with guests, Danny and Janie Max.
A great crew.
A few meaningless facts about this ride: We logged 244 miles, our average driving speed was 46.5 MPH, overall average was 44.6, maximum velocity attained was 75.6 and our saddle time was 5:14 (5:11 projected)
